The North East Health Network (NEHN) marked International Youth Day 2022 by engaging with young people living in displaced communities to understand the challenges they face and the skills they need to overcome them.
World Youth Skills Day is an annual event held on July 15th to raise awareness about the importance of investing in skills for young people. This year, NEHN took the opportunity to celebrate the day by asking young people in displaced communities about the challenges they face and how they can be supported in acquiring the necessary skills to overcome them.
The NEHN team held a series of focus groups and interviews with young people living in displaced communities, allowing them to share their experiences and perspectives. Many of the young people spoke about the difficulties of accessing education and job opportunities, as well as the lack of necessities such as food, shelter, and medical care.
Despite these challenges, the young people were also full of hope and determination. They spoke about their aspirations for the future and their desire to acquire the skills they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
