The Northeast Health Network (team volunteered with UNICEF  to provide vaccines to displaced people in Borno State, Nigeria. The partnership lasted for eight weeks and was designed to improve the health and well-being of individuals affected by conflict in the region.

Borno State has been plagued by conflict, resulting in mass displacement of people and a critical shortage of basic health services, including vaccines. To address this issue, NHN, a leading health organization in Nigeria, joined forces with UNICEF to provide much-needed support to the affected population.

The collaboration involved the deployment of trained health workers and volunteers from both organizations, who worked together to provide immunizations to children and adults in the displaced camps. The teams also provided health education and information to the local communities, raising awareness about the importance of vaccines and encouraging participation in the immunization program.

The teams faced several challenges in their efforts to reach remote and hard-to-reach areas in Borno State. Poor road infrastructure, insecurity, and limited access to clean water and electricity were just some of the obstacles they encountered. However, the dedicated efforts of the NHN and UNICEF teams helped overcome these challenges and ensured that the immunization program was successfully carried out.

During the eight-week collaboration, the teams were able to vaccinate over 15,000 people, including children under the age of five and pregnant women. This represented a significant improvement in the health and well-being of the affected communities, as vaccines play a crucial role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and reducing the burden of illness and death.

The successful collaboration between NHN and UNICEF serves as a model for other organizations and highlights the importance of partnerships in addressing critical health needs in conflict-affected areas. By working together, the two organizations were able to leverage their strengths and resources to provide life-saving vaccines to those in need.

The partnership between the Northeast Health Network and UNICEF demonstrated the impact that can be achieved through collaboration in addressing critical health needs in conflict-affected areas. The successful immunization program provided much-needed support to the people of Borno State and set an example for future partnerships in improving the health and well-being of populations in need.
